Haukiputaan Ahmat had a short, but active training camp in northern Finland earlier this week including training, scrimmage and of course plenty of team building activities. The Camp started with a massive boozing session with sauna and dipping into lake in the middle of nowhere to get the team to know each other bit better. The finns in the team were leading the way and as you know there are few of them, so it got messy at times.
Second day of the Camp was recovery day due to previous days activities, and boy was that also required judging by the faces of Malkin, Hertl and Josi, they looked like living deads all of them. Also the keepers, who we all know are weird bunch of guys anyway, looked like they all had lost their minds and were just sitting around in weird positions and talking to themselves, no one could understand a word they were saying though. Yandle was lost for few hours, he had been spending the night in the forest and when he was found he thought his name is John Rambo, having his speedo's around his head and thought the reindeer antlers in his hand was a knife. Donskoi took a leaders role for the recovery day, making sure that everyone was fed properly and that no one needed any visits to hospital. Fried reindeer, fried pike perch, berries among other things the team were enjoying, local products all.
Third day was all business; gym, running, 2 sessions on ice and the day ended with internal scrimmage of 2*20 minutes, so heavy load for the day but this way the other days of Camp are not spoiled by ice hockey.
Scrimmage ended 5 - 3 for the orange team. Teams were:
Orange
Aho(0+2) - Malkin(0+1) - Granlund(2+1)
Hertl - O'Reilly(1+1) - Oshie(0+1)
Barbashev(0+2) - Zacha - Rasmussen
Karlsson(0+1) - Josi(1+0)
Yandle(1+1) - Hägg
Holtby
Subban
Blue
Marchessault - Kalsson - Smith
Nyquist(0+1) - Larkin(0+2) - Dzingel
Heinen - Danault(0+2) - Donskoi(3+0)
Pietrangelo - Ristolainen
Heiskanen(0+1) - Lindell
Howard
Rittich
Those are more or less going to be the lines and D-pairings to start the season with too, depending on schedules of course.
Fourth day of the Camp the team headed to town for another massive boozing session, after which the team decided the captains for the coming season:
C - Joonas Donskoi
A - Esa Lindell
A - Mikael Granlund
A - Sebastian Aho
A - Miro Heiskanen
Fifth day meant the team was heading back and wait for the season to start. This time Yandle was wearing his speedos the right way but for some reason singing "I've been looking for a freedom", no hassle. Private yet(i.e. old Tupolev from 1980's) took the team back home, and there are rumours that food on the place was bit boringly mainly eggs, at least if you believe Captain Clarence Oveur. During the flight the team agreed that the only target for this talented group of guys is to WIN, win the whole thing.
