Issue: Increase the Minimum Number of Games Played for EL Skater Salary ActivationThis poll will remain active for 4 days from the time it is posted.
A ' YES' vote means... The new minimum number of games played for an EL Player (Skaters only) to begin earning a salary is increased from 41 to 70. This means that an EL Skater will not earn a salary until they begin a DHL season having played in a total of 70 or more NHL regular season games. Once qualifying for a salary, the player's annual cost will begin progressing along the standard EL Player salary scale. Expected Effects: - Undeveloped players will be less likely to start cutting into a team's cap space before they are a productive NHLer, while stronger prospects will mostly still qualify for salary as the previous timeframe.
- EL Player contracts will move (marginally) slower through a team’s system.
- May keep borderline prospects out of the Free Agent pool longer.
A ' NO' vote means... The minimum number of games played for an EL Player (Skater only) to begin earning a salary remains at 41.

We're already going quite a bit beyond what the NHL considers a rookie. Here are the requirements for a NHL player to be eligible for the Calder Trophy:
"To be considered a rookie, a player must not have played in more than 25 NHL games in any preceding seasons, nor in six or more NHL games in each of any two preceding seasons. Any player at least 26 years of age (by September 15th of that season) is not considered a rookie."
We're currently at 41 games played, literally half of a NHL season, and that's plenty. If you've played half a NHL season you're not a rookie by the eyes of the NHL nor should you be in the DHL. 70 games is far too many and would allow people to keep someone on an ELC contract simply because they missed 12 games in their rookie year regardless of the reason - suspension, illness, family emergency, injury, etc. Take this Conor Bedard fellow, for example. Let's say he plays in 69 games this season because he misses three games due to illness and another 10 due to a series of short term injuries throughout the year (two games here, three games there, etc.). He puts up 80 points in 69 games but his contract is not activated in our league and he's still a $0 player in his second season. That scenario is very plausible and is absolutely absurd.
Keep it as it is and has been. It has not been an issue thus far.
