Hey everyone,
The DHL's 2021 Wuest Memorial Trophy Playoff starts TOMORROW (Sun Apr 2nd). As per usual, it will run for 3 rounds.
SCHEDULE
Round 1: April 2 - April 9
Round 2: April 10 - April 16
Round 3: April 17 - April 29 (double-week for the Final)
SEEDING
New this season, only the #1 ranked team will receive a BYE through Round 1, and the #7 ranked team will now make the playoff. Accordingly, the seeding will look as follows:
#1 vs BYE
#2 vs #7
#3 vs #6
#4 vs #5
STARTING LINE-UPS
Teams that qualify for the playoff must submit their Playoff Roster (similar to what we do for starting lineups at the beginning of the regular season) ahead of puck drop on the earliest game of the day. Rosters can be posted on a team's board in a new thread, messaged to the commissioner, or just set on FanTrax (whatever your team is set at by the deadline, is your Playoff Roster).
Because of the Round 1 BYE for the #1 ranked team, their Playoff Roster is due a week later, for the start of Round 2 (April 10).
Now, normally we'd all have a decent amount of time to submit a Playoff Roster as the playoff would traditionally start on a Monday, where puckdrop would be ~7pmET. Because we've changed the schedule this year to start rounds on Sundays, Playoff Rosters will need to be submitted earlier than they normally would. The first games of Round 1 take place at 1pmET/10amPT on Sun Apr 3 (DET vs OTT, FLA vs BUF), so Playoff Rosters must be set by that time. Any transactions that take place after that deadline will count towards the team's total match transactions. Your FanTrax roster takes precedent here, so make sure to prioritize setting that how you want. Your actual list (if you submit one) can be sent later than the deadline, but must match your roster on FanTrax at the time of the deadline.
TRANSACTION COUNT
We've been running this since the "Olympic Break", so I think it's best just to keep things consistent through the rest of the year.
Round 1: 4 transactions
Round 2: 4 transactions
Round 3: 7 transactions
If anyone has questions, please reach out. Good luck to all the teams in the hunt.
