Hey folks,
Sorry I've been so behind lately. Been a struggle to keep up the last month or so, but I've managed to get the spreadsheet in order (finally).
Nebraska's reminded me that we haven't enabled the 2022 EL Player Draft picks yet, so I'll get that sorted out today. Just so it's not a total surprise to everyone, I'll say they're available for trade as of tomorrow (Fri March 19th) at Noon ET/9am PT.
Speaking of trading, the NHL's trade deadline for this season is April 12th. Unfortunately, we'll be in our playoffs by then, so that's a no-go. Our playoffs start April 5th, so I think our best bet for our own deadlines is this....
Saturday, Mar 27th at 2:59:59amET/Friday, Mar 26th at 11:59:59pmPT: EL Reclamation Deadline
Saturday, Apr 3rd at 2:59:59amET/Friday, Apr 2nd at 11:59:59pmPT: Trade/Signing Deadline
EL Reclamation Deadline:
Essentially, any players EL RELEASED after the specified date and time of the EL Reclamation Deadline will be ineligible to be re-signed by the team that released them (at least until the Free Agency Bidding Window reopens in the off-season). EL Players can still be EL RELEASED as normal beyond the deadline (teams regain the roster slot and funds from EL RELEASING a valid player), but are essentially off-limits to the team that did choose to let them go. The EL RELEASED player is available for bidding by other teams up until the Signing Deadline, but if done so, that player cannot be traded to any team through to the Trade Deadline (to prevent any acts of collusion).
Trade/Signing Deadline:
This deadline continues to operate as per usual. By the deadline, any trades must either have been posted in the TRADE section of the message board OR have accepted by both parties on FanTrax. If the details of the trade have been posted on the message board, but not yet confirmed by the 2nd party, the trade will still be allowed as long as the 2nd party follows up with confirmation within a reasonable timeline. As long as one of these steps has been completed, the rest of the process can be dealt with legally afterwards. Likewise by the deadline, all player auctions must have been started on the message boards, including a valid opening bid. The auctions may continue past the deadline as other possible bids come in, but no new auctions may be started after the deadline has passed.
This way, any trade agreed upon has time to process and be in effect ahead of Round 1 (and some wiggle-room if there are any issues). Past this point, rosters are essentially frozen until around the DHL EL Player Draft.
If anyone has questions or needs clarification, please reach out to me in private, or on the message boards.
Thanks everyone, and good luck.
