Just throwing this out there...
First of all, kudos again to Simi for utilizing a lil' loophole in the system and I'm pissed at myself that I didn't think to use it fuk. But, with that said...I think we gotta talk about adding a "Ghost" rule for next year.
Simi has moved Gostisbehere from Fowler (after 5 games back - lol) over to Savard (who will play his 3rd game back tonight) and (I'm assuming) will now transfer him over to the newly acquired (and ever popular) Eric Gryba (who has just been placed on the IR for 4-6 weeks with a broken hand) thus taking Ghost out of the Free Agent Pool (past the Trade Deadline) and therefore unable to be bid on this season.
And, yes, I may be thinking a little too much on this buttttttttt...I'm guessing he's taken him out of the bidding so he can utilize his 4th Overall this summer to snag him on his last year of EL eligibility to which I say, once again...kudos (current!) Champ.
Once again, not complaining...really complimenting...but think we should tweek this next year somehow.
Cheers

As someone who has(had) big plans for Gostesbehere, I call shenanigans.

Call it what you want, but making a signing of this magnitude at this stage of the season is crap and I wasn't going to let him just fall into another's teams hands when I was the only one to take a chance on him in the first place. This happened to me earlier this season with Oscar Lindberg and had to release him to Free Agency only to have another team sign him. Frankly I think a team should have the right to sign a player he picks up on Injured Reserve while he is on the roster as long as it adheres to the appropriate contract rules. He's effectively their property and if an NHL team did this they would have that right as well. Now Ghost will be in the EL draft and other teams will have to decide how and when to make a play for him.
Sketchy move though it may be, he was there for everyone to sign and bid on back in December when I grabbed him. Now playoff teams will have to win on what got them here. That's how it should be.

I hadn't noticed this. So, what's happened?
Has Simi moved Ghost around to replace various D men on IR (sometimes exceeding the 3 games rule)? And/or has he been purposefully signing IR D men to retain Ghost?

In answer to your question Daniel...prob'ly inadvertently on exceeding the 3 game limit (only once) but seemingly obvious with the signing of Gryba and further "taking" of Ghost upon his immediate placement on the IR earlier today.
Simi...disagree with more than a few things in your post but I suppose we should let others get into the discussion before we begin a debate.

I would like a full investigation into the matter involving the top league officials.

I agree. Sadly I'm completely booked until after the trade deadline. Let's convene then.
The defending champ has spoken.

Well, it's not against the rules but it's not in the spirit of what we're trying to do here.
I suppose some kind of rule change (eg, you can't use the same IR replacement player for two different players without him being returned to the FA market for at least x amount of weeks) next year is required.

As the guy that suggested this move to Simi I have no problem with it. It's not common enough for a rule change.

Well aren't you just the devious trailblazer. However (surprise surprise) I disagree bubba. I think it's been used in the past (not to Simi's level here with the employment of Gryba) but, now that the stage has been set, I think it could become more common with MoFo's like that Morweena guy.

I'm all about sketchy dealings.
The only thing I disagree with in this case was holding onto him for more than the 3 game allowance yet maintaining control.
But that's neither here nor there. Rules don't apply to the champ, and I look forward to that privilege next year.

I think that back-to-back IR players should all be immediately eligible for bidding. IR replacements off the FA wire are only for actual free agents, not to hold on to players. Easy fix for the league that could give people a few days to bid. Doesn't mean a player couldn't be picked up immediately as the IR replacement, it just means that the team doing so would lose that player if someone starts a bid on him.
I think this is a must-change rule.
