With the trading floor now open for business I think it's imperative we all know what the rules/categories are for next season. I'm a bit confused as there seems to still be discussion going on about EL contracts, etc. so if the Commisioner (Adam) could make a concise post that summarizes what, if any, changes to the rules we will have for next season that would be fantastic so that we are all clear and can make moves accordingly.

Ya, I originally set the trade window to re-open after our draft lottery, so we'd have time to talk soem business over and settle some things. People seemed pretty adamant to get some deals going though so I opened it early with the warning "Trading is now active again, if you're so inclined (though I would still recommend against it, until everything is nailed down for next season!)". I would still advise anyone from doing deals until we've settled on everything, but I'm not going to stop them.
The sooner everybody shares their opinion on points of discussion and vote, the sooner we can wrap it all up and hammer things down.
As it stands right now...
CONFIRMED CHANGES FOR 2015: -'Shots on Goal' will be added for the coming season, as approved in the off-season 2 years ago.
PROPOSED CHANGES FOR 2015: -Change to contracts for EL Defensemen?

Are we getting rid of any scoring categories or just adding shots outright?

Adding shots outright, nothing being taken away.
Perhaps we'll consider taking a category away in the future, as there was some distaste for PIMs as a category, but I think it's best to first see how 2015 runs before deciding to make any other changes.

Just a thought: perhaps any EL d-men contract changes should only apply to players drafted this year and beyond.
If that was the case, I may change my vote. I dislike the idea of having the values of current players change... especially when I traded so many EL d-men already!

There's really no reason not to make trades at this point as everything is settled for this season. The scoring categories will be:
SKATERS Goals Assists PIM +/- Shots PPP Hits Blocked Shots
GOALIES Wins GAA SV% Shutouts
We know that. The only thing that could possibly change is the pay scale for defenseman on EL contracts and that should not be implemented this summer (we never vote on something in June and implement it for the season that begins in October, as we see with adding shots) nor will it impact us much at all as there are not too many defenseman who are entering the fourth/fifth years of their EL contracts in our league. So trading should be open and plentiful as we all know the salary cap, we all know the scoring categories, we all know the rosters and free agents and all that is left to determine is the order of the first six draft picks.

Exactly. That's why I decided to allow people to make trades ahead of when I was going to. There seemed to be an appetite, and I didn't see much of a reason to stop anyone.

If implemented, it would be retroactive to all existing contract, for simplicity sake.
