Hey there folks,
I'm not sure how much everyone here's been following it, but the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) is going to be starting up in January of 2024. Unified under one umbrella, it seems like this iteration of a women's professional league might finally stick. They already have some big sponsors on board, and accordingly, it's expected that the NHL may get involved in supporting the league. Presumably, that lends a hand in legitimizing things, and I hope that leads to some platform hosting a fantasy hockey feature for the PWHL. IF that's the case, how many of you would be interested in a DHL sister-league (pun intended)?
Now, we're busy enough here already, and don't need a whole other DHL-level league on our plate. Not to mention, with the PWHL just starting out, it's going to start small and need time to develop anyways. So what I'm proposing is a sort of DHL-lite. A lot will depend on what a hosting platform may even offer (TBD), but I picture perhaps 2 of each position on MAJOR (2 C, 2 LW, 2 RW, 2D, 2G = 10 Players), with 5 MINOR league slots. On top of that, NO bench (SO NO DAILY LINE-UPS NEEDING TO BE SET!), and maybe either have a SMALL set number of transactions per team/per season, or maybe we do no movement at all (and MINOR becomes just a spot to maintain rights on a player). Not sure how we'd handle a prospects draft, but maybe only 1, possibly 2 rounds tops. All very up in the air until we see if any of this is even possible.
But for now, I'm just fishing for level of interest. By no means is anyone already in the DHL obligated to participate, and the results of this other league would have no impact on your DHL team. A totally separate entity.
Anyways, in case things aren't making the news cycle internationally, here's an early announcement article:

And after running a 3-player Free Agent signing window a couple weeks ago, they are now about to run a draft for the 6 teams to fill out the rest of their roster. You can watch the draft live in a half-hour's time on YouTube here (1pmET/10amPT):
