Hey everyone,
As has been discussed down in the chat box, it appears the NHL will indeed be returning Jan 13th (or ~mid January at least). We had a conference in the off-season to determine how we could conclude the 2019 playoffs, which was only part-way through the 1st round at the time that the NHL ceased operations.
Alex, of Morweena, suggested we run a secondary pool on FanTrax along side our official pool for the season, which made the most sense and had the support of most owners as our best option to go forward with.
Originally, when we discussed things, I had always just pictured this secondary pool running for the 1st month of the new season (1-week match-up Round 1, 1-week match-up Round 2, 2-week match-up Round 3). The more I'm pondering things however, I'm wondering if it could be good to look past that timeframe?
I mean, with the draft already being done, there really aren't any other league matters or time-constraints we're subject to here. Additionally, we really can't predict how things are going to play out when the season gets going again, and there's potential that there could be unexpected delays and postponements of games due to infection/quarantine/government regulation changes. We're really not sure what the schedule will be like either, and there's been lots of talk about teams doing a cluster of 3-game This being the case, we COULD expand the match-up timeframes each round, to help ensure a more "balanced" result?
Whether that's 2-week match-ups for each round, 1-month match-ups for each round, or we could even go to the extreme and make this side-pool run all season long if we really wanted to have fun with it.
What are people's thoughts on this?
