Ah, great point about there needing to be a different set of rules for IR goalies. That completely slipped my mind. I'll come up with a revision for them. Thanks, Tim.

I'm in favour of the rule changes to IR replacements, they make complete sense - although 3 games would be best just for forgetful owners. I like the idea for retaining FA signings, but I'm more worried about the increased workload that Adam would have to take on - that's a pretty big request to be asking of him, and he already does an amazing amount to make this league work. Also he'd get to see all bids for everyone Perhaps there's a site we could use that could make it blind in the way you're proposing.

Camarillo has an idea about silent auctions for free agency, but I'll let him explain it.

I do? I mean I do....yes.
Actually, I don''t have a clue how to make this work but now that the most hated man in Atlanta has put me on the spot I will give it a go.
The "idea" was more of a drunken rant during lunch the other day which dealt with bidding on free agents and/or pending free agents for an owner who would like to keep that player. The trick here is to how to run it. It would taken an owner of a team who has no interest in bidding on a particular player. For new free agents, teams would have 24 hours to submit a proposal. At the conclusion of the 24 hours, that player would be rewarded to the team with the highest bid. For a new free agent there is one extra wrinkle where at the conclusion of the 24 hours, the previous owner of a player would have an additional 24 hours to resign that player $5 over the winning bid and there would be no counter to that bid.
That's the gist of it. I really have no idea why this topic was broached but I like the idea for the sake of moving things a long and to keep other others from jacking up the price or making bids in the 23rd hour and starting the process all over again. You want a guy, you roll the dice, take a chance and bid on him with an amount that you think is fair and equitable. There is some strategy here but it puts the pressure on the owner to put a market value on a guy and in a way, allows the players to determine which team he will go to because as we all know, the players goes wherever the money is the highest.
Feel free to bash it, amend it or come up with something completely different. I have 0.0 invested in this.
