Aren't we always getting ahead of ourselves with prospects? Connor Carrick is a "Niiiiiiiiiiiice grab" but Jacob Trouba praise is getting ahead of ourselves? I'll take the 1st round pick that looked like Drew Doughty and Alex Pieterangelo in his NHL debut any day of the week. Grabbing him on October 3rd with a deferred 5th round pick is theft.

I do think Carrick is a nice grab, because he's an off the radar guy that was on my list (but I wouldn't have taken him until next year). He's got potential to be the secondary offensive D-man on WSJ, behind Green (or at the top when Green gets injured).
Trouba is a good grab too, but.. we're comparing him to Doughty and Pietrangelo after 1 game against the Oilers? A team with a new, first-time NHL head coach? And that's missing their top 2 Cs?
Again, good use of a pick by Quebec, but let's see game 10 before we put his name on the Calder!

I'm looking down the road more. Trouba is going to be the Jets Pieterangelo and Doughty in the sense that he's going to be the man on the power play, penalty kill and on the top pairing. Quebec got him for $0 this year, $1 next year and $2 in 2015-2016. $3 for the next three years of that guy? Steal.
